In keeping with public health recommendations, this year's event was a socially distanced and festive celebration. Thanks to SAFD first responders from Fire Station 51 and all Woods neighbors who participated! Residents decorated mailboxes, yards and fences, and dressed pets and people in the spirit of Independence Day--to greet three fire trucks which processed through the neighborhood with fanfare. In 2021, we hope it will be safe, once again, for us to parade together to the community clubhouse for a visit with neighbors, tour of the firetruck and/or cool swim in the pool.
COVID-19 prompted a creative way to celebrate National Night Out in the Woods this year.
Woods of Shavano’s National Night Out Scavenger Hunt in 2020 was a fun, socially distanced activity that encouraged and enabled residents to exhibit their knowledge of, and discover new things about, their community. Participants competed for a chance to win $25 gift cards to local restaurants.
Stay tuned to learn how we'll celebrate National Night Out next year.

Sales are held at individual homes, and the Community Association will help promote the neighborhood-wide event on social media. Due to COVID-19, there will be no vendors at the Clubhouse this year.
Those who dare may earn an official W.O.S. Polar Pool Plunge Certificate for participating in this winter event in early January. After all, in Texas, it could be cool and frosty, or warm and sunny. What the heck, it's a fun event to raise funds for our community!
There will not be a Polar Bear Plunge in 2021.
We hope to offer this chilly experience again in 2022.
